TATE’s Breathing Paws
At miindfully™, we provide proactive skills to prepare kids with tools so they are ready for when big feelings arrive. With TATE’s Breathing Paws, your child can learn coping skills that will last a lifetime.
It is about empowering them to take control of their own emotional regulation.
They have learned: “I have a tool. I can handle this”
When kids practice calming skills, they can find their calm faster – right when they need it.
Follow Along with Different Techniques
TATE’s gentle voice guides them through proven methods developed by child experts:
- Breathing exercises
- Visualization
- Body awareness
- Positive self-talk
Meditation stories & activities are anywhere from 3 – 45 minutes, depending on what your child’s needs are in that moment. Some stories help them drift into deep sleep, others spark imagination and grow creativity & confidence. Some build patience & thinking skills, while others include more interactive moments that strengthen self-awareness.
Each story is designed to hold their attention long enough to actually shift their nervous system.
Big Feelings Become Manageable Feelings
Heart rate slows. Shoulders drop. Fists unclench. Face softens.
Your child isn’t “fixed” or “calmed down by someone else.” They’ve done the work themselves. They followed the breathing. They imagined the safe place. They felt their body relax.
And most importantly – they notice the shift.
Kids Build Skills for Life
First week: They need reminders to use TATE.
Second week: They start reaching for TATE independently (and sleep improves dramatically).
First month: The techniques become automatic
Long term: These become their go-to coping mechanisms for life!
Frequently asked questions
What ages is this for?
Tate is designed for kids ages 3-12
Younger kids (3-5): Love the cuddly companion aspect and respond well to the simple breathing exercises and simple visualization stories.. Parents can introduce TATE as a new friend to help them learn about sending and receiving love and calm.
Older kids (6-8): Use TATE more independently and can grasp the more complex meditation stories. Introducing TATE for bedtime is truly magical and 10/10 parents found it helpful for faster time to sleep and longer overall sleep.
Too old? Many kids 9+ find TATE helpful, especially if they’re working through anxiety or big emotions. If your child still cuddles plush toys and is open to engaging guided meditation stories, age is less important than developmental readiness.
Is it just a stuffed animal?
No – and that’s the whole point.
Tate looks like a stuffed animal (soft, cuddly, huggable), and that is what kids love. But inside, TATE is a child expert-developed emotional regulation tool.
What makes TATE different:
- Hundreds of minutes of guided meditation stories & activities using proven CBT and mindfulness techniques
- Professional-quality audio with child-friendly voice guidance
- Breathing Paws that teach four different coping skills & calming techniques
- Optional essential oil heart for aromatherapy
- Choose-your-calm so that kids have variety and autonomy
- Each story features your child as the main character, with TATE as a supportive companion—helping build comfort, engagement, and emotional regulation
Think of it this way: The plush toy (TATE), is the delivery system. The emotional regulation skills are found in the audio content.
A weighted stuffed animal provides passive comfort. TATE provides active guidance. That’s the difference between a $40 toy and a $129 investment in your child’s emotional capacity ☺

What if my child loses interest?
This is a valid concern, and here’s the honest answer:
Kids won’t use Tate every single day – and that’s okay. TATE a tool, not a toy. Just like you don’t use a Band-Aid every day, your child may not need Tate every day. We find that time with TATE is so incredibly varied on each child’s needs.
What parents typically see:
First 1-2 weeks: High interest, lots of use (novelty factor)
After that: Use becomes need-based – bedtime, transitions, moments of overwhelm.
Long-term: Tate becomes the thing they reach for when big feelings hit, when they feel sick and need extra TLC, during travel/disruptions in routines.
When kids “lose interest,” it usually means:
- They’re in a good emotional space and don’t need the tool right now (that’s good!)
- They’ve internalized some techniques and are using them without Tate (also good!)
- Life got busy and it fell out of routine (happens – reintroduce during stressful times)
Pro tips from parents:
- Keep TATE visible (on bed, in calm-down corner) so kids remember he’s there
- Reintroduce during stressful times (holidays, school transitions, new sibling)
- Use it yourself! Kids are more likely to use tools they see parents using. TATE is a family companion for everyone!
The guarantee: If after 30 days you genuinely feel like Tate isn’t helping or your child won’t engage with it at all, we have a money-back guarantee. But almost all parents find that even if use is sporadic, having the tool available when needed is 100% worth it.
